CannaButter Recipe

This cannabutter recipe is very easy to make, and can be used in almost any dish that calls for butter or oil. Basically all we're doing is adding butter and cannabis to a hot pot of water so that the THC is released and will adhere to the melted butter. Then we re-solidify the THC butter and we're good to go. Most commonly used in brownies and candies, you can also use cannabutter directly on popcorn or toast!

Step by step - How to make Cannabutter

  1. Determine amount of weed and butter to use. The generally accepted ratio is 1 ounce of weed for every pound of butter (4 sticks).
  2.  Bring a pot of water to a boil. More water will make for easier straining later.
  3. Add the butter to the pot and let it melt completely.
  4. Lower pot to just a simmer and add your weed, preferably ground into fine pieces.
  5. Let it simmer for 2-3 hours to release the THC to bind with the melted butter.
  6. Use a double layer of cheesecloth secured over a tupperware or similar container. Preferably use a 'tall' container over a 'wide' container so the cannabutter with be nice and thick and easier to handle.
  7. Pour the pot contents through the cheesecloth and into the container.
  8. Squeeze any remaining liquid from the cheesecloth into the container. Get it all. The leftover weed with miniscule THC will be left on the cheesecloth. Some people find uses for it.
  9. The container should now have just water with the melted THC butter. Let sit for 30-60 minutes for the butter to start rising to the top.
  10. Now put the container in the fridge overnight to solidify.
  11. Use a knife to separate the cannabutter from the container.
  12. Your cannabutter should be a slightly greenish/brownish color. Enjoy!
